Paul Bateson visited Buenos Aires on three occasions between 28 December 2011 and 25 January 2012, as part of an epic 58 day voyage. Paul reports that a double-deck open top sightseeing service is operated in this busy city, by Buenos Aires Bus (www.buenosairesbus.com, www.bue.gob.ar). The buses are confirmed as Mercedes Benz/Metalsur, and are in a yellow livery, with canvas roofs than can be removed to make the vehicles genuine open-toppers. With a temperature of 37'C and the sun beating down, the canvas roof is probably a good idea.

  On 25th. January 2012, Paul Bateson made his third and final visit to Buenos Aires. Two additional open top single deck buses found. They appear to be old single deck buses rebuilt in one case as an open top double decker (or at least to give that appearance). No seats on the lower deck (if anything!!) and a front entrance immediately behind the original front entrance leads to a staircase and the top deck. The other bus seen just had the regular entrance and steps up to the deck. TEJ 159 has 57 seats. RXW 855 carries fleet number 201. The make of bus could not be established even after the driver looked at the vehicle's paperwork. The buses appear to be operated by L'OPEN TOP.

  Also noted by Paul Bateson was an additional open top double decker. The operator is unknown, vehicle make possibly Neoplan, but no visible builder's plate. Registered RXW 928.

  Paul Bateson reports that he observed two open single-deck buses with another unidentified company. As they did not stop, it was difficult gathering full information. One bus carries TMH 596 and appears to seat 57 (OB57F), the other bus could not be identified as it sped by.
