City Sightseeing Toronto is operated by The Bus and Boat Company using a fleet of Routemasters, Leyland Atlanteans, Daimler Fleetlines, Leyland Olympian, Alexander Dennis Enviro 400, plus one which we have still to identify.  Toronto is a vibrant city with plenty of interest for the transportation enthusiast.

The open top bus fleet is quite extensive.  It comprises a collection of 32 buses, mainly double-deckers, plus 2 which are covered-top.  The owners of Bus and Boat also operate Star Services and Magic Bus Company with fleet numbers in a common series.  The first two digits are intended to indicate the seating capacity and the last two digits are the bus numbers, although there are exceptions!

For the record, the two covered top buses complete the fleet listing:
6385 – 333 8BF – Bristol Lodekka new as RAG 403 later BFX 414A – red City Sightseeing names - out of service
Unregistered Leyland Olympian new as A149 UDM – right hand drive - red and black livery – not used

The sightseeing buses operate at about a 15 minute frequency during peak season requiring as many as 12 buses.  For visitors to Toronto, the ideal location for photographs are at the intersection of Avenue Road and Bloor Street in the morning as buses can be pictured from the left side as they turn to go west on Bloor Street to Casa Loma.  The right sides can then be photographed when the buses return eastbound and prior to turning south on Queen’s Park.  In the afternoon two good locations are westbound on Bremner Boulevard with the CN Tower and Aquarium in the background or southbound on Rees Street at Lakeshore.
